Since I'm officially and author now, I think it's fitting that I attend the Canadian Authors Association meeting tonight. Well, that and my friend Gillian Shaw is speaking on authors and social media.

Gillian warned me that she's going to point me out as an example of an author using social media. I can only hope that Raul is there too so I won't be the other social media person there to poke fun of, er, point out during the meeting.

10 Ways Social Media Will Change In 2010

So what will social Web bring next? What will "being connected" mean? What will the next experience be for the 2 two billion people who are connected to the Internet? Here are 10 ways what we've called social media will evolve in 2010.

This guest post just cements what I've been thinking/saying for some time: all media is now social and is now interwoven into our daily lives.

All media is social media! We just have better tools now.

I know Shane well, so I know when he titled his post "The End of Social Media" -- http://www.closingbigger.net/2009/09/the-end-of-social-media/ -- he did it to raise eyebrows and angry clicks. The fact of the matter is that in a year or so we're not going to be saying "do you do social media?" any more than we ask "do you email?" now.
As I listened to Shane I was reminded that I said pretty much the same thing in 2006...we needed to stop thinking about "do you blog" in the same way we don't think "do you phone".

Hugh MacLeod asks Shel Isreal Ten Questions

twitvilee0909A.jpg

Shel Israel and I have known each other since 2005, when he interviewed me for his seminal book on blogging, "Naked Conversations", that he co-authored with Robert Scoble. Since then he's been running around, writing books and consulting with large companies on all things to do with social media. His second book, "Twitterville: How Businesses Can Thrive in the New Global Neighborhoods" is launching September 3rd. As he and I have the same publisher, they sent me an advance copy to read, which I was really impressed with. I asked him ten questions, and he kindly agreed to answer them below.

Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the book. Good thing Shel will be here in Vancouver shortly.
